_We are putting some thought into this. Since we have a wide range of
backgrounds that will be involved we can't make everyone happy. But its
going to be fun and challenging for everyone.

Basic Rules:
We are following English country singlestick rules from about the late 17th century. This will keep it very simple and easy to judge. The purpose was to draw 1" of blood from a person scalp. We can't do this of course, but rules will be based on that.
Bouts will be in a ring approximately 15' in diameter.
Off hand can check the opponents basket or sword arm.
Obvious blocking with the offhand will count as a hit.
No grappling
No thrusting
Scoring:
The head is the only target. Anywhere from the neck up.
There will be an "afterblow" rule. This means that within a fencing time, if the counter attack lands, then it will count as a double hit. This will force the fencers to defend themselves immediate after an attack.

Play to 3-5 hits or 5 minutes.
There will be 2 judges (1 vote) and a director (1.5 votes). This may change depending on how many participants we have on the day. I also hope to have the directors rotating around that represent the different backgrounds we will have participating.
Here is a video example of how the bout will run.
